About the WINd Project

The Challenge: Skills gaps and job displacement

Europe’s clean energy transition is accelerating, driving rapid growth in the wind energy sector and increasing demand for skilled technicians and operational staff. At the same time, workers in traditional and energy intensive sectors such as electricity, construction, and offshore oil and gas are facing job uncertainty due to sectoral phase-out.

Despite possessing relevant technical experience, many of these workers encounter skills mismatches, limited access to flexible reskilling opportunities, and unclear pathways into the wind energy labour market. In parallel, VET providers and public authorities lack validated, up to date tools to support large scale reskilling aligned with real industry needs.

How WINd responds: Creating opportunities

The WINd project is an Erasmus+ co-funded initiative designed to support a just and inclusive energy transition by addressing workforce and skills challenges in the wind energy sector.

WINd responds to these challenges by:

  • Analysing transferable skills and profile compatibility between traditional energy sectors and wind energy roles
  • Developing competence based training aligned with labour market demand
  • Providing flexible, digital learning solutions that support self-paced reskilling
  • Connecting workers directly with employers through dedicated career support tools
